Of Nap Times and Bedtimes

nap times and bedtimes

Z woke up around midnight and asked for water. He drank about a cup and a half before going back to sleep. He’s been waking up in the middle of the night lately, asking for water. The summer has been very hot this year but I think I am glad that it’s been short. I don’t think I can tolerate more of the 38 degrees Celsius and above temperatures any longer. And neither does the little boy.

For quite a while now, it’s been a little game between Z and I to take selfies before he takes his nap or even goes to bed at night. It’s the only one of those rare times when he would want to have his photo taken. LOL!

After more than a few snaps, he’d take one of his stuffed toys, either Elmo or Cookie Monster, or one of the little pillows scattered on our bed, find his position then goes to sleep. Most of the time, he’d lie down horizontally, leaving no space for me.

Little boy’s current favorite sleep partner 🙂

He no longer needs to be cradled before going to sleep. Only on rare occasions would he want to snuggle and cuddle as he sleeps. And when he does, it’s not easy to put him down because he’d feel the smallest movement and would hold tight fast. There have been a few occasions that I got late for work because he wouldn’t let go. LOL!

Didn’t want to let go

I miss baby wearing the little boy to sleep though. Once in a while, when he remembers his baby sling, he’d get it from the room, sit on my lap and let me wear him as he goes to sleep. I think he just wanted to snuggle and cuddle when he does that. And I indulge him in those times. Because those are already rare. It won’t be long when this little boy will be going to bed all on his own.

Nap times and bedtimes are one of the few moments that Z and I spend together that I really love. I only get to put him to bed at night on the weekends and when I have to stay home during the week. So I make it up during nap times before I leave for work.

I always spend a few minutes just watching the little boy sleep. And I always wonder where my baby had gone. Time apparently has been moving so fast, it felt like it was just yesterday when I was cuddling a baby in my arms as he sleeps. Now, Z doesn’t want to be cuddled (except on the rare times that he wants to). Well, I guess I can blame the heat on that one. LOL!
