Control-Freak Mom Goes One Year…

…and I almost forgot it.

Yep, this blog turned a year old yesterday, October 5th. And it’s been active since I started. That is a feat for me. Whoopee!

Now, what? I’ve been planning on getting my own domain so this blog can progress but as of now, it is not yet on top of my budget list. Though hopefully I will be able to get my own domain up and running by next year. For now, I’ll keep this one going. ๐Ÿ˜€

I have never really thought that I would enjoy “publicly” blogging (so to speak) and sharing bits and pieces with the blogosphere. As I’ve mentioned before, I have been blogging for a long time now but I haven’t reallyย publishedย it to get followers and the likes. I was actually scared of getting bashed by unknown cyberpeople just because I stated an opinion. With this blog though, so far, I got nice and friendly viewers and “likers” and comments are kind and uplifting.

For those comments that didn’t appear in my posts, I think Askimet has something to do with that. I’m still trying to figure out how to view those that were considered spam. Sorry for that.

So what have I learned this past year of blogging? Hmmm, let me see. I guess here are a few the things I learned:

  • Blogging is my outlet. Well, writing in general has always been my outlet for any excess thoughts and emotions. However, since the creation of this blog, I was able to somehow streamline my hay wired thoughts into something a little more, well, informative, if you may. While this blog contains my thoughts, my experiences and my journey with my son, I think, all in all, I was able to stick to the general direction of where I wanted this blog to go. And with that, I was able to redirect – well, not necessarily negative but let’s just say negative for the sake of having something to describe it – negative energies into something a little bit more productive and more positive. I think. ๐Ÿ˜›
  • Blogging is a serious business. I have heard a lot of people earning money through blogging but I never really gave it much thought. I realized this when I started going through other blogsย and came across topics aboutย getting income from blogging. Yes, I am now catching up. LOL! And it’s not just that. I think there are a lot of bloggers out there who can write a lot better than journalists. That’s just my opinion anyway.
  • There are a lot of giveaways and freebies through blogs. I never really blog-hopped before. I read a few blog posts here and there but I never really followed a certain blogger/bloggers and continuously read through their posts. But this past year, I have never really thought that you could win a lot of stuff through raffles via blog posts. (Thank you MBP members for those opportunities).

There are a few more things that I have learned but these three were the biggest ones.

A few months ago, I was thinking of coming up with my very first giveaway once this blog turns 1 year. Not really something grand but a little something to give back to my followers and those who come visit my blog every now and then. Guess what? I wasn’t able to set some time to think and plan for it. I’ll try to work out on something and hopefully I will be able to pull it off. (Does raffflecopter work in a free domain?)

There are things I still need to learn about this blogging thing but right now, I am glad if I was able to impart a little knowledge, a little comfort, a few laughs and “awww” moments to the cyber community. Thank you for reading and taking time to comment and liking my posts. Even when I think my posts were written in a lousy way.

Looking forward to what the next year of blogging will take me. All I know is, this blog will remain a repository of my journey as a control-freak mom to a little boy with special needs (who is indeed growing a lot faster than this blog has been LOL).

With that said, let me share with you a video of my son during one of our weekend play time. Enjoy!

Happy anniversary to me! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Happy Anniversary to your blog! Just like you, it was only recently that I adapted a direction for my blog, became more informative to my readers and have discovered freebies and blogging as a profession. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Happy first anniversary to your blog! Since you’re also using wordpress.com, I suggest that if you’re gonna have a giveaway you can put the rafflecopter widget in your facebook page instead. For some reason, free wordpress.com doesn’t allow javascripts from other sites unless it’s facebook, instagram or youtube. ๐Ÿ˜€
