Fatherless on Fathers’ Day

Today is fathers’ day. Before anything else, let me greet all fathers out there a Happy Fathers’ Day. I know your children are honored to have you as their father and wouldn’t trade you for anyone else. May you continue to be the best father that you ought to be to your children.

Like I said, today is fathers’ day. It used to be a fun occasion for me, except for two years now, it has become a bittersweet day for two reasons:

My Thoughts On The Papal Visit

Before anything else, let me write my disclaimer down: This post is not meant to insult any religion, belief or faith nor do I intend to insult anyone. I am merely writing down my thoughts on what I know is a very sensitive topic for the majority of the people who might get to read this. I am not trying to look down at anything or even trying to be superior in terms of beliefs over anyone else’s. I would just like to “think out loud”, to simply put, in the hopes that maybe, there will be some readers out there who […]

12 Days of Gratitude – Day 12

And here I am on the last day of my gratitude series. 🙂 To be honest, this activity is starting to make me see things through a different perspective. Though there are days that are not going as good as we expected, there is still that little thing that we can be thankful for. Having a thankful heart will actually do good for us. Makes it easier to let go of stressful situations, too. 🙂 Anyway, it is such a great timing to end this today as I am celebrating a milestone of my own. Today marks my 8th year […]

12 Days of Gratitude – Day 7

I just realized that my 12 Days of Gratitude will end on the 28th. I was initially thinking it would last until January 1st. LOL! I think my brain was already asleep when I came up with the idea. Oh well, never mind as I have several ideas lined up for posting in the days after this series. So, this is what it feels like to be on vacation. I slept most of the morning away and then took a nap with my son after his bath. I left the house mid-afternoon to run some errands and while the items I […]

12 Days of Gratitude – Day 6

After my whole day of house cleaning yesterday, I had forgone sleep and went to the bus terminal way earlier than my scheduled trip. My ticket was for 11AM trip but I was able to chance a ride at 5AM. Slept the whole trip as well. 🙂 So I guess you know what’s today’s gratitude is all about. Well, here it goes: I am grateful for a very safe taxi ride from my apartment all the way to the bus terminal with a driver giving me advise to ensure my safety. 🙂 I got to the terminal expecting long queue […]

Of Halloween, All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days…

And here I am once again, blogging on the way to the mountain city. Yep, I am going home for the weekend. Good thing that I bought my bus ticket last Monday when I arrived in the big metro. The queue at the ticket booth was so long, it already reached the main highway. There was a time that I don’t go home during these times because of the heavy traffic jams on main thoroughfares as well as the hassle of lining up to buy a ticket or queueing for a chance ride. And besides, I used to enjoy the […]

BER Months

I know this is already considered a late topic since we are well on our way to the second BER month. But just try to indulge me on this one and I hope to get your inputs, too. 🙂

So, here are the things that usually happen around these months:

A Commuter’s Nightmare…

I have seen a lot of posts in my FB newsfeeds about different modus operandi happening in public transportations within the big metro. I have seen and heard news about pickpockets and groups of the them even holding up passengers in the cramped up MRT. A few years ago, a former colleague of mine was a victim of this. His newly bought iPhone then was stolen from him. There was also a modus in the provincial buses, which I became a victim of. A couple of thieves will buy a ticket, rides the bus then observes passengers to identify those […]

#RandomThoughts: Amidst the Storm

As I type this, the bus has just left the terminal on the way to the big metro. I took my usual trip, 11:55pm, just so I can avoid the morning super heavy traffic jam that starts at Balintawak all the way to the end of EDSA on a Monday. However, right now, there’s a storm and the rains have gotten stronger just before we left. I can’t even remember the last time I travelled in the midst of a storm. Last year before I gave birth, we waited out the storm before going home to the mountain city. So […]

The DFA Saga

Anybody had a hard time dealing with DFA? I just did. Remember my post regarding pet peeves a few months ago and I mentioned that one of my pet peeves is dealing with government offices? *Sigh* Let me just recount the events prior to the release of my passport. When I lost my backpack last March, my passport was in there. Being so preoccupied, I forgot to take it out and secure it at home. So, I lost it, too, and it was never returned. Most likely, it already ended up in the garbage dump somewhere in Tarlac. I secured […]
