Vacation over so soon…

A few hours Β from now, I – together with my son and my sister – will be travelling back to the big metro. The holidays are over and I need to go back to work (much to my disappointment πŸ™ ). My son has an appointment with his pedia-ophthal on Tuesday that is why he is going back with me. My sister is coming with us as well to help take care of my little big boy while I report back to work.

It was a very short two weeks, to tell you honestly. It seems like my son has grown so much in the last two weeks that we’ve been together and I have enjoyed every moment of the time that we have spent together. With him going back with me to the big city means another week that I will spend every single day of with him.

Let me give you a background of what my set up with my son will be. Given that I am a single Mom and that I live alone in the big metro, there is no one to help me take care of my little warrior. We don’t have day care centers set up here as what they have abroad. And it is very, very hard to find a very trusted nanny with a 4-month old, very active baby with medical needs. So, as agreed with my family, my baby will be left back home with my Mom where she would be able to take care of the little one along with a few of my trusted relatives. I guess the question others would ask (and have already asked) is, can anyone of my family join me instead so I can still spend time with my son daily? It is not that easy. My family also has their lives to live and having them offer to take care of my little boy while I work elsewhere is already, well, a great help. Pulling them out of their routines would already be too much to ask. So, starting after next weekend, I will be a weekend Mom. :'( Β Not an easy thing to swallow but then sacrifices have to be done for the well-being of my beloved son.

So, I’ll tackle more of that soon, I’d say. For now, on to a lighter side. The past two weeks have been fun (amidst some of the few disappointments here and there). But the past two weeks seems too short as well. You see, given the weather up here (where the wind gets chilly in the afternoon and almost freezing at night) and the hoards of people who decided to spend the holidays here, it was hard to bring little Z to places. Most of the time, we were just at the mall having coffee with friends or shopping for what-nots. I haven’t even been able to bring him to the Christmas village because of the really cold weather at night (as I was worried of little Z catching cold as well as the lack of transportation going there and the heavy traffic jams all over the small city) and I haven’t been able to bring him to John Hay as well because it was really hard getting a cab going there and coming back home, well, due to the hoards of people as well.

The past two weeks were spent hanging out with my cousins, nephews and nieces and all other relatives living close to home. On Christmas Eve, we went to mass at the church a few blocks away from the house. I had to dress little Z in his santa romper because it was thick and will protect him from the biting cold breeze that night (although, I think I dressed him too much because he was sweating at church – he was wearing an overall sleeper underneath his romper πŸ˜› ). He fell asleep during communion though. I think it was because of the choir. πŸ™‚

We had lunch at home on Christmas day as some of my cousins came as well. Unfortunately, we weren’t all complete as some of them had different plans for Christmas (I was not able to “organize” Christmas lunch due to a different priority last month). Had coffee with a couple of my cousins afterwards, too.

The day after Christmas, I met with a couple of friends (would-be godmothers of little Z) for lunch and had coffee with one of them (as the other one had some late Christmas shopping to do). I think my son enjoyed his day that he fell asleep for quite a while after we got home. The day after that (on the 27th) was an appointment with his pedia here for routine check up (my baby weighed in at 6.75kg without clothes… yipee!) then in the afternoon, we attended my nephew’s baby dedication (is it correct to say, ceremony?). He was asleep most of the time, though. LOL!

28th lunch was spent at another cousin’s new house. They just transferred to a new place and their landlady was having a house blessing that afternoon so my cousin decided for us to have lunch there instead. The little boy was brought home by my Mom after that while my cousin and I went to town to look for a new router for her new home.

On the 29th, my baby turned 4 months old. Yep, time is starting to move so fast. My little baby is now a big, very active baby boy. Asked my brother to photograph my little Z for his 4th month celebration (we have already planned to have his monthly photoshoot a few months back). We had the shoot here at home as it was really quite hard doing it outdoors for now given the weather.

Little Z spent the 30th at home while my sister and I went grocery shopping for ingredients for the New Year’s Eve feast as well as for New Year’s lunch. For some reason I was craving for fried chicken. πŸ˜› (forgot to take a photo of it, though. Haha!) So, I cooked fried chicken for New Year lunch (yes, somehow I still know how Β to cook and I do cook every now and then) and made chicken cordon bleu for the New Year’s Eve dinner (which, unfortunately, was a failure. Though it was edible and it still tasted good. :P)

Little Z was awake when we greeted the New Year at 12 midnight and appeared to have been trying to grab my Mom’s wine glass during the picture taking. LOL! Spent the next few hours playing Heart Attack and Categories (both card games) with my siblings, cousin, nephew and niece and a couple boyfriends of the two ladies with us. Well, it was the New Year’s celebration our Grandma let us get away with being rowdy that early morning. πŸ˜› Spent New Year’s lunch here at home as well with other cousins then had another round of coffee in town with another cousin. πŸ˜› (Yep, I have a lot of cousins.)

Cheers!

Caught the cold and spent most of the 2nd sleeping (thanks to my sister and Mom for taking care of my little boy while I try to get some much needed sleep). Had family lunch on the 3rd and coffee with my brother and sister afterwards then went to the mall to hang out yesterday (since it is already 2 in the morning of the 5th on this side of the world).

I’m done with about 80% of packing and still got a few things to pack later today before we leave the house.

I don’t want to go back yet to be honest. I still want to stay and spend time with my family and with my little boy. But then we don’t always get what we want so I have no choice but to go back to work. Anyway, I will be doing it for my little Z.

There are still a few things that I would actually want to write down but like I have just said, it is now 2 in the morning and I still need to get some sleep. I’ll just whine on the next blog post (well, if I could still remember what I wanted to whine about).

Other than that, the past two weeks was relaxing and was really fun. πŸ™‚
