Mother’s Day Celebration…

I know, I know. Mothers’ Day was last week and my post is already late. Pardon my being absent from my own blog for the past three weeks as it has been a bit busy time for me. (Nothing new there, actually).

Last weekend, we went home to the mountain city since Z’s nanny needed to go home to her hometown for the election so I needed to leave the little boy back home because they missed him, too. 🙂 As of this writing, my son is still there with my Mom, spending another week before I pick them up this coming weekend.

Given that it was Mothers’ Day, the family had loosely planned a family outing, going to a resort nearby. No, it was not the beach that we went to, rather, we went to Pooten Resort in Nangalisan, Benguet. It’s about 30-45 minutes away from city center (depending on how fast you drive and the traffic from the city). The difference of this resort from its nearby neighboring resorts is that the pool water is coming straight from the hot spring, it’s not your typical chlorinated pool water.

We got there at about half past 10 in the morning, I think, and there were a lot of people already. There were no cottages available as all of them were occupied. There were 4 big pools and all were occupied by kids and adults alike. Even the hot tubs were full of people. Nevertheless, we went there to enjoy and enjoy we did regardless.

Z was not his usual jolly self since we arrived home the day before. I think he knew that I will be leaving him in the mountain city for a couple of weeks so he was really clingy the whole time. Even when we arrived at the resort, all he wanted to do was stay in the water and not leave, not even to eat lunch.

I would love to go back to this resort when it’s not the peak season. I think it would be lovely and more relaxing if there were no other people occupying every space. My Mom got the rates of the place already so there might be some plans to rent half of the place sometime in the future. 🙂

We stayed until 5PM before heading back home though we were already planning on going out for coffee after dropping things off at home. 🙂 My Mom opted to stay since she was not feeling well so it was my brother, Z’s nanny, Z and I who went out. My brother recommended a somewhat hole in a wall place along North Drive.

Their coffee was so-so. I had to ask that the refill (yes, their cup of brewed coffee comes with a free refill) be fresh brewed and a bit stronger. I was actually surprised that they complied. Their pasta was good, too. Z finished the whole plate. I like their quesadilla and their salsa was quite nice.

I was not able to take a lot of photos of the place but I would definitely go back there just to hang out. The place is comfortable and relatively quiet so it is a good place for conversations.

There was nothing extravagant about how we spent Mothers’ Day as a family. But then again, what matters was that we spent it as a family. It’s rare nowadays that we get together like this so it was really nice to just relax with them.
