#RandomThoughts: Year-End Party and New Toys

Yesterday was our company’s year end party held at KPub Bbq Restaurant in BGC. Why KPub? From what I’ve heard, it was one of those few places that can accommodate our number. And this year’s theme? Something colorful. To be honest, I’ve had a hard time trying to find something to wear for the event that I decided to stick with a red top. And since it is a barbecue place, it didn’t feel right to dress up to the nines for the night. Though a lot of people really took the effort to doll up. 😀

So here’s what I wore:

the "effortless" hair :D

Few minutes after I left the house, that hair fell flat. LOL And a few hours into the party, I had a shoe disaster. Good thing that we had a messenger at the event and our bouncer asked him to buy instant glue from the nearby 711. Whew!

Registration of the event started at 5PM and I left the party at around 10:30PM, after all the bands have played and the ones left are the DJs playing party music. I have never been into that kind of music anyway so I don’t think I really missed anything when I left. Had they started the night with the DJs and the bands played later into the night, I would probably have stayed until closing time. LOL!

I haven’t worn high heels for a long time that I still feel my legs and soles of my feet hurting from the abuse of walking in spikes. And by the way, Nicole Asensio of the now defunct General Luna performed for the party and Ira Cruz (formerly from Bamboo, then Hijo but not sure what happened with that band) made a special appearance.. Heehee! I have a photo with them separately but it was my office mate who took the photo and I am still waiting for it to be posted. I’ll update this post with the photo once I get it.

(Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this following post. I just wanted to write about the products.)

A couple of weeks ago, I bought the little boy a new toy. I got him a push walker. After a long search and deliberation of the qualities of each of the push walkers I’ve seen, I settled for Little Footprints’ version.

It is a walker that can be turned into an activity table. So far, this was the only push walker I saw that can be turned into an activity table. The others were just plain walkers, toys are detachable, or can be turned into a floor toy. But that is not what I was looking for. Little Z already has a lot of toys that he can play with separately while on the floor. The part where I can convert the walker into an activity table made me decide to buy this walker instead of a different one. I no longer have to buy a separate activity table for the little boy. 😀

One other thing that I liked about this – assembly takes less than 5 minutes. 😀 No tools needed to assemble. All you need is to connect the parts and hold it in place using those big red screws included in the package.

I brought this toy home the other weekend when I went home to the mountain city but I was not able to let the little boy fully test the walker. He loved the sounds of the toy, though. Hee hee! Yep, my little boy really loves music. 😀 I’ll post further review of this toy during my vacation period.

Since I cannot remember the last time I bought myself a toy, I finally gave in to my urge to buy a tablet. I was able to streamline my choices to two brands and I ended up getting the Lenovo one.

So, here is the Mommy’s new toy:

Lenovo bundle (Lenovo tab, Samsonite pouch, JBL earphones)
Lenovo bundle (Lenovo tab, Samsonite pouch, JBL earphones)

A7-30 model plus accessories

I have been contemplating getting a tablet before but for some reason, it was not high in my priority list. But when I had my little Z and he has started getting a bit restless on long trips, I knew that I needed to get one so his restlessness can be diverted. Besides, he gets easily bored with some of his toys that we keep in the baby bag during our trips.

The one thing that made me decide to get this tab is the audio quality. It’s got dolby digital sounds. I was trying to look for a tab that can offer both of the things that I am looking for in a tablet – high quality audio and high resolution camera. The other option that I was looking into was Starmobile Engage 7, I believe. It is also a 7-inch tab but rear camera is 8MP while the front camera is 2 or 5MP (I can’t remember). Lenovo’s rear camera is only 2MP while the front camera is published as 1.3MP as the highest but somehow, it seems to be further lower than that. Typical VGA quality.

I have been exploring the tab earlier and so far, I like what I see. Response is fast, loading of apps is pretty quick as well and I think I can live with the 2MP camera. I still have my phone to use for picture taking anyway. 😀

I am still thinking if I will get a separate flip cover for the tab. Maybe next month. I’ll need to work for funds for that one first since I already went overboard with my budget due to the bundled offering they have for this model. I don’t think I regret it though. Both the earphones and the carrying case are of high quality so it’s all good.

Most of the apps I have installed in the tab are for Zaine’s entertainment. 😀 Anybody’s got suggestions of good android apps for toddlers? Free app recommendation is definitely welcome. 😀

And it is already 3:30 AM in this side of the world. I still have work in the morning. I need to try and get some sleep now. And I need to plan my strategy for this week to get everything done before the weekend since I will be going home to the mountain city on Sunday for the holidays. Whoopee! Can’t wait for the long vacation. 😀

  1. My son loves to play with the walker/activity table whenever we drop by the toy store. 🙂 Congrats on your new toy! I’m sure Z (and hopefully, you) would enjoy! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Cheanne. I am starting to enjoy my new toy. In fact, with my son on my mind the whole time, the only apps I got to install are activity apps for him 🙂

  2. Love the tablet – must have for bloggers! That push walker is perfect, too, because they don’t become too dependent (unlike what happened to my son and his conventional walker).
